How to Analyse Your Competitors

Competitor analysis helps you understand the choices customers see in your market. Here is a practical framework for turning that context into a clearer customer-focused move.

1. Identify your real competitors

Your competitors are not always who you think. Search your main keywords and note who ranks on page 1. Those search competitors may differ from the brands you list in a pitch deck.

2. Compare positioning and offers

Read their homepage and pricing page. Who do they claim to serve? What proof do they show? Where does your offer look stronger or weaker? This shapes messaging before you touch SEO tools.

3. Audit their content footprint

What topics do they cover that you do not? Which pages look like they target high-intent queries? Content gaps are opportunities — but only if you can ship something better.

4. Compare on-page and technical signals

Titles, meta, structure, SSL, and crawl health are fair game from a public crawl. Traffic and authority scores from third-party tools are useful later; treat any heuristic estimates as directional only.

5. Turn gaps into customer value

Thin pages, unclear CTAs, weak mobile layouts, or missing schema can reveal an opportunity. Focus on the unmet customer question you can answer more clearly, not just on copying a competitor.

6. Accelerate discovery with Orion

InsightSphere starts with a website you own or are authorized to assess, surfaces comparable businesses, and summarises visible market openings — a useful first pass before deeper research.
